The DifferenceThe Tapestry is not just like every church. In a day and time when so many want to look just like the church next door, we have struggled to find our identity. From choosing our name in 2003, to starting in 2004, we are the original Tapestry Church. Come see what makes us different!

Message
The Methods will always and must always change, however the Message never changes! We find today that we still must preach the message of the cross.

Adoration

There must be more to this than simple worship. Where's the intimacy in that? We will not settle for anything less than deep connection with GOD & each other.

Covenant
No more broken promises. No more quitting when it gets tough. No more broken hearts. In a day when people can easily go their separate ways, we live in covenant.

Cultural
Not a list. Not just laws. Not just on Sunday. We are believers and will allow our faith to invade all parts of our lives. Our love will show and will draw all people to GOD.

Missional
With Consumerism crashing down all around us, the only path to take is a deeper one. One that gives back. What do you want to do with the rest of your life?

So, where's this thing going anyways?

Everyone wants one. Very few actually do what it takes to not only find one, but also do something about it! This is our mission. It's not our next door neighbors, it's not the church down the street and it's not what everyone thinks is cool. This is our personal, very unique mission based on our specific identity as a church.

The MissionTapestry /tap-es-tre/ Def. - Once worn threads now WOVEN together by Spirit and Truth; a MASTERPIECE creatively DEPICTING the Glory of GOD.

Woven= Our Theology that makes us different!
Depiction= Our Commitments that the world sees.
Masterpiece= Our Purposes that balance us. (These help us connect people to GOD & each other!)

Woven: OUR UNIQUE ATTRIBUTES- Intimacy (with GOD and each other. "Connecting People to GOD & each other." [We are intimate]

- Worship (Building a Temple for GOD individually and corporately by instilling a spirit of adoration in HIS people). [We demonstrate passion]

- Experiences with GOD (Interaction with our Father=GOD, our Lover=Jesus and our Teacher=the Holy Spirit which together as the Trinity are our LORD). [We are Supernatural]

- Power Encounters with the world (This is GOD by means of HIS intimate followers, becoming intimate with the world). [We are available for GOD's use]

- Radical Balance (A marriage of the Spirit and the Word as a cultural lifestyle). [We are balanced]

- Doin' the Stuff (Whether healing or services, this is all done "...as unto the LORD..." Jesus Himself with HIS heart for others). [We are active]

This leaves us with a very simple theological creed that with the fuller foundational beliefs make us a doctrinally sound church. These are the theological points that together set us apart as a vital part of the DC church community. However, they do not stand alone apart from all of our foundational beliefs.

Depiction: OUR COMMITMENTS(Our commitments as a church that DEPICT GOD's heart to the world. They are the first level basic filter for everything that we do in church).

1. Giving back to the Community

3. Giving back to Creation
4. Giving Glory back to GOD

We chose these as a set of filters in order to make sure that we are healthy as a church. They are ONLY a quick glimpse into the health of the church. We further must look into the plan which we call "the Masterpiece" in order to see how effectively we are fulfilling all of our purposes. These commitments were adopted as a response to the overly consumeristic nature of the Western church and hopefully help us to keep our church balanced in giving.
When we fulfill these values, we are truly depicting and demonstrating GOD's love to the world.

So, our purposes are:
1. Evangelism - Matthew 28
2. Worship - Matthew 22
3. Fellowship - Matthew 22
4. Discipleship - Matthew 28
5. Ministry / Mission - Matthew 28

We use the words: Message, Adoration, Covenant, Cultural, & Missional.

*The five primary purposes of the church have been noted by many leaders. They were first introduced in the 1980's by pastors in California and pularized by Rick Warren of Saddleback church.
